Different between DWDM and OTN

•  DWDM ( Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing ) is technology which used to multiplexing and demultiplexing of wavelengths

• DWDM combine no of wavelength and produced a modulated wavelength

• Modulated wavelength is passed through the fiber and carry all the wavelength and thus increasing the capacity of the fiber with increase the number of wavelength multiplexed .

• DWDM main component is multiplexer , Demultiplexer , Amplifier , ROADM .
  
  
  
    

• When function like Transport , Multiplexing , Switching , Management , Supervision and Survivability of optical channel is added to the DWDM system , it called OTN.
• OTN ( Optical Transport Network ) is the combination of ONE (Optical Network Equipment) connected by Optical fiber links which are able to provide functionality of transport , multiplexing , switching , management, supervision and survivability of optical channels carrying client signals .

• OTN is a standardized method for transparent transport of services over optical wavelength in DWDM systems.

• OTN function is provided by the OTN enabled card . OTN interfaces enables OTN features .

• OTN has complete fixed OTN frame structure.
